Journey To Freedom

Journey to FreedomJourney to Freedom is an 8-week group study on how to change. Developed by the YMCA's Restore Ministries, and offered at area YMCAs and “partner churches.” The program offers an inspiring and hopefilled vision for those who want to improve spirit, mind and body.

Guided by trained facilitators, you'll learn:
  • What is needed for real change, and why other attempts may have failed.
  • How to create a foundation for change from which you can solve any problem and achieve any goal.
  • How to silence your inner critic and achieve your true purpose.
  • The difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
  • How to defeat obstacles and stay on course.
  • The tools needed for an enduring commitment to a new lifestyle.
  • How to live from vision and passion versus need and fear.
  • In the final week, you’ll create a personal plan of action to keep you focused on the path to your best possible life -- a life of vision, purpose, fulfillment and hope.
Dr. James Prochaska, university researcher and author of Changing for Good, learned that people need to move through six stages for change to be permanent: pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination. Prochaska discovered that only 20% of the people who desired change were actually through the first three stages and ready for action – the stage where change actually occurs. Journey to Freedom takes people through the first three stages, then helps them develop an action plan, and shows them how to implement that plan.

Hope, health, and happiness are truly yours to claim on the Journey to Freedom. We hope you’ll join us!
