Restore and the YMCA ...

The YMCA's Mission
A worldwide charitable fellowship united by a common loyalty to Jesus Christ for the purpose of helping persons grow in spirit, mind and body.

How Our Relationship Began
In 1994, Scott Reall began working as Senior Wellness Director at the Green Hills YMCA in Nashville, TN, a position he held for ten years. Early on in his role there, he recognized that many members were struggling with issues that would be best helped through the application of a 12 Step program - something he had benefited from himself. With the blessing of the Y, he began leading 12 Step recovery groups on site. Six years later, he partnered with the Middle Tennessee YMCA system to found Restore.

A Win/Win Proposition
Being a program of the YMCA has many advantages, not the least of which is the level of comfortability and respect with which many people view the Y. Restore also benefits financially from this relationship, with much of its funding coming through Y programs and funds. Additionally, with the incredible network of over 2500 YMCAs in the US and 120 abroad, the possibilities for expanding the reach of Restore's program are endless.

From the YMCA's perspective, Restore is a key element of their focus on "lifting the 'C'" - an initiative launched earlier this year to reinforce the Christian emphasis under which it was first formed. With its focus on transforming lives, Restore offers the Y a unique program which serves the 'spirit' and 'mind' aspects of the YMCA's mission.

With these and other facts in mind, Restore’s relationship with the YMCA presents a win/win proposition for both organizations, and we look forward to growing together in the mission of reaching the world with the life-changing process of the 12 Steps.
